Abstract Background and Aims In the field of nephrology, environmental awareness is booming we claim that it responsible for our impact. Hemodialysis treatment generates an excessive burden owing to high consumption water energy, as well production a large amount waste. On part European Kidney Health Alliance (EKHA), several proactive suggestions have been proposed worldwide. To this regard, implemented different improvements in dialysis unit, including reverse osmosis (RO) plant automation upgrade. However, change paradigm, was still necessary first know reality from which start identify opportunities improvement. The objective study determine impact care activities hemodialysis center over last 5 years. Method A retrospective analysis key indicators derived treatments, January 2018 December 2022 performed. Energy (kWh/dialysis), expenditure (L/dialysis), technical operator (TO) required time generation sanitary waste (SW, Kg/dialysis) activity were monitored according their classification: GI (unspecific non-hazardous waste), GII (patient such disposable items, used empty bloodlines hemodialyzers) GIII (sharp material, needles or anatomical waste).
